Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Food & Beverages and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.43% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index lost 0.28%, and the TecDAX index added 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 6.12% or 0.685 points to trade at 11.870 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) added 4.62% or 3.620 points to end at 81.910 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 2.92% or 0.172 points to 6.069 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which lost 6.28% or 9.200 points to trade at 137.350 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 1.45% or 0.295 points to end at 20.050 and Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) shed 1.43% or 0.99 points to 68.16.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which rose 3.25% to 62.980, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 2.09% to settle at 4.84 and Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which gained 1.36% to close at 99.470.
The worst performers were Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (DE:FPEG) which was down 3.88% to 38.420 in late trade, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which lost 3.24% to settle at 58.810 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 2.36% to 27.290 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which rose 8.98% to 23.720, Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which was up 2.20% to settle at 4.545 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which gained 1.48% to close at 66.550.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 2.91% to 30.645 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which lost 2.64% to settle at 29.00 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 2.13% to 39.235 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 480 to 387 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.28% to 23.81 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.46% or 6.05 to $1302.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.70% or 0.77 to hit $44.57 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.28% or 0.60 to trade at $46.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1109, while EUR/GBP fell 1.21% to 0.8913.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 97.17.
