Germany shares mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.35%
Credit: © Reuters. – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Retail , Basic Resources and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages , Financial Services and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.35%, while the MDAX index fell 0.10%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.38%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE: LHAG ), which rose 1.03% or 0.215 points to trade at 21.115 at the close. Adidas AG (DE: ADSGN ) added 0.72% or 1.30 points to end at 181.90 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE: TKAG ) was up 0.66% or 0.175 points to 26.740 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG (DE: DB1Gn ), which lost 1.35% or 1.310 points to trade at 95.430 in late trade. Siemens AG Class N (DE: SIEGn ) declined 1.08% or 1.30 points to end at 119.00 and Vonovia SE (DE: VNAn ) shed 1.03% or 0.36 points to 34.65.

The top performers on the MDAX were Metro AG (DE: MEOG ) which rose 3.69% to 10.250, Zalando SE (DE: ZALG ) which was up 2.56% to settle at 42.74 and Rational AG (BS: RAAd ) which gained 2.05% to close at 525.85.

The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE: G1AG ) which was down 5.81% to 36.535 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE: DWNG ) which lost 1.22% to settle at 33.245 and Suedzucker AG (DE: SZUG ) which was down 1.22% to 18.205 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE: S92G ) which rose 6.30% to 31.805, Aixtron SE (DE: AIXGn ) which was up 2.36% to settle at 7.498 and Siltronic AG (DE: WAFGn ) which gained 2.26% to close at 84.980.

The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE: ADAG ) which was down 0.47% to 8.941 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE: GFTG ) which lost 0.40% to settle at 14.890 and Software AG O.N. (DE: SOWG ) which was down 0.40% to 38.165 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 422 to 337 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.01% to 12.21.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.48% or 5.88 to $1233.38 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.67% or 0.31 to hit $46.23 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.21 to trade at $48.70 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1474, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8785.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 94.94.
