Germany shares mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.90%

Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the DAX Telecom, DAX Software and DAX Food & Beverage sectors led shares higher while losses in the DAX Construction, DAX Technology and DAX Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.90% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index declined 0.13%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.46%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which rose 7.57% or 2.98 points to trade at 42.37 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 4.93% or 2.56 points to end at 54.52 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) was up 4.65% or 1.43 points to 32.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA), which fell 3.17% or 1.39 points to trade at 42.39 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) declined 3.01% or 2.10 points to end at 67.74 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) down 1.65% or 0.55 points to 32.51.

The top performers on the MDAX were Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which rose 6.80% to 29.85, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was up 1.92% to settle at 67.02 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (ETR:FPE3_p) which gained 1.80% to close at 42.96.

The worst performers were AUTO1 Group SE (ETR:AG1G) which was down 3.74% to 18.00 in late trade, Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which lost 3.21% to settle at 120.50 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 2.87% to 43.94 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which rose 4.65% to 32.20, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 1.76% to settle at 11.00 and SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) which gained 1.75% to close at 267.20.

The worst performers were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which was down 3.17% to 42.39 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 2.87% to settle at 43.94 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which was down 2.57% to 24.28 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 309 to 292 and 49 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.93% to 15.50.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.01% or 0.39 to $2,794.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.69% or 0.51 to hit $73.26 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.33 to trade at $76.16 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 107.74.
