’Fasten your seatbelts’— BTIG strategists warn of coming turbulence
Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the DAX Food & Beverage, DAX Industrial and DAX Utilities sectors led shares higher while losses in the DAX Construction, DAX Telecom and DAX Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.05%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.19%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which rose 3.78% or 1.01 points to trade at 27.76 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 3.06% or 2.54 points to end at 85.56 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) was up 2.90% or 48.50 points to 1,720.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn), which fell 1.71% or 0.56 points to trade at 32.28 in late trade. Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) declined 1.65% or 1.02 points to end at 60.96 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) down 1.49% or 0.55 points to 36.44.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 7.34% to 14.03, flatexDEGIRO AG (ETR:FTKn) which was up 3.80% to settle at 24.04 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 3.65% to close at 7.44.
The worst performers were Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which was down 2.79% to 22.32 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (ETR:EVKn) which lost 1.96% to settle at 19.00 and Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which was down 1.56% to 29.12 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which rose 8.34% to 41.06, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 7.34% to settle at 14.03 and Formycon AG (ETR:FYB) which gained 3.68% to close at 29.60.
The worst performers were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was down 1.71% to 32.28 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which lost 1.49% to settle at 36.44 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 1.32% to 10.48 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 322 to 285 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.40% to 19.53.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.29% or 9.80 to $3,353.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.54% or 1.65 to hit $66.63 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.21% or 1.48 to trade at $68.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 98.60.
