Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Insurance and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.80% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index declined 1.90%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 0.07% or 0.060 points to trade at 88.060 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) fell 0.35% or 0.040 points to end at 11.290 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) was down 0.92% or 0.135 points to 14.595 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 3.50% or 0.645 points to trade at 17.760 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 3.46% or 0.485 points to end at 13.550 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 3.45% or 0.233 points to 6.520.
The top performers on the MDAX were DMG Mori Seiki AG (DE:GILG) which fell 0.05% to 41.655, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 0.45% to settle at 43.175 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 0.47% to close at 106.000.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 6.38% to 29.800 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which lost 3.70% to settle at 44.650 and Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (DE:HNRGn) which was down 3.70% to 92.330 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 3.90% to 173.250, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 0.32% to settle at 3.758 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which lost 0.30% to close at 49.060.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 75.37% to 60.710 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 8.30% to settle at 44.170 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 5.17% to 22.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 775 to 127 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.36% to 28.22 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.75% or 9.60 to $1285.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.55% or 0.27 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.27 to trade at $50.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1283, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7927.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 94.45.
