Germany shares lower at close of trade; DAX down 4.26%

Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the DAX Insurance, DAX Consumer & Cyclical and DAX Industrial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 4.26% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index lost 2.94%, and the TecDAX index lost 3.22%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA), which rose 2.31% or 0.82 points to trade at 36.15 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) added 0.83% or 0.17 points to end at 20.58 and Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) was down 0.04% or 0.02 points to 49.04 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn), which fell 7.53% or 20.00 points to trade at 245.60 in late trade. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (ETR:MUVGn) declined 7.01% or 39.20 points to end at 519.80 and Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) down 6.97% or 10.24 points to 136.70.

The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 3.20% to 50.30, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 3.19% to settle at 9.50 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which gained 2.42% to close at 7.62.

The worst performers were DWS Group GmbH & Co KgaA (ETR:DWSG) which was down 7.61% to 38.34 in late trade, Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which lost 7.29% to settle at 18.70 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was down 6.96% to 12.57 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 3.20% to 50.30, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 3.19% to settle at 9.50 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which gained 2.31% to close at 36.15.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 6.44% to 175.85 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which lost 5.86% to settle at 10.92 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 5.31% to 19.81 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 564 to 102 and 15 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Shares in Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) fell to 3-year lows; losing 0.04% or 0.02 to 49.04. Shares in Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) fell to 5-year lows; losing 7.29% or 1.47 to 18.70. Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.44% or 12.10 to 175.85.

The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.04% to 21.14.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.25% or 38.05 to $2,997.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.95% or 1.21 to hit $60.78 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.91% or 1.25 to trade at $64.33 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP rose 0.98% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 103.25.
