Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.52% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index fell 1.01%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn), which rose 2.26% or 0.590 points to trade at 26.725 at the close. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) added 0.36% or 0.140 points to end at 38.805 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) was down 0.49% or 0.350 points to 70.990 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG), which lost 3.73% or 0.435 points to trade at 11.225 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) declined 2.95% or 0.830 points to end at 27.345 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) shed 2.48% or 1.350 points to 53.170.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 1.64% to 15.150, Fielmann AG O.N. (XETRA:FIEG) which was up 0.95% to settle at 61.750 and Man SE ST O.N. (XETRA:MANG) which gained 0.22% to close at 92.400.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 3.09% to 33.520 in late trade, Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which lost 3.05% to settle at 34.620 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was down 2.79% to 14.300 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which rose 6.59% to 31.300, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was up 2.52% to settle at 11.000 and Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which gained 1.83% to close at 3.330.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 4.15% to 3.630 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 3.40% to settle at 1.732 and Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 2.18% to 38.180 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 541 to 197 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.66% to 26.64.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.09% or 1.10 to $1166.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.54% or 1.41 to hit $54.11 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.29% or 1.99 to trade at $58.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1081, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.7094.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.26.
