Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the DAX Consumer & Cyclical, DAX Chemicals and DAX Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.34%, while the MDAX index fell 1.78%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 4.98% or 2.52 points to trade at 53.08 at the close. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 3.13% or 35.00 points to end at 1,154.00 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) was up 3.08% or 9.50 points to 317.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p), which fell 10.36% or 8.98 points to trade at 77.74 in late trade. Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) declined 5.34% or 2.30 points to end at 40.74 and BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) down 4.01% or 2.12 points to 50.81.
The top performers on the MDAX were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which rose 9.10% to 133.10, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 5.12% to settle at 64.65 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which gained 2.83% to close at 15.65.
The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 18.45% to 8.20 in late trade, Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which lost 8.09% to settle at 34.10 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 6.19% to 26.20 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 5.12% to 64.65, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 2.83% to settle at 15.65 and SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which gained 2.18% to close at 35.15.
The worst performers were Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was down 7.08% to 77.40 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 4.90% to settle at 43.06 and Formycon AG (ETR:FYB) which was down 3.18% to 24.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 471 to 158 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Shares in Formycon AG (ETR:FYB) fell to 3-year lows; down 3.18% or 0.80 to 24.35.
The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.83% to 22.81 a new 6-month high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.82% or 23.69 to $2,923.09 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.39% or 0.26 to hit $66.29 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.35 to trade at $69.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 103.32.
