Germany shares lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.15%

Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Resources , Consumer & Cyclical and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.15% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index lost 1.05%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE: TKAG ), which rose 0.82% or 0.210 points to trade at 25.770 at the close. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE: PSMGn ) added 0.71% or 0.240 points to end at 33.990 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE: BMWG ) was down 0.02% or 0.020 points to 80.050 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE: HNKG_p ), which lost 4.11% or 4.90 points to trade at 114.45 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE: DBKGn ) declined 3.09% or 0.460 points to end at 14.420 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE: MUVGn ) shed 2.29% or 4.15 points to 177.35.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE: SAXG ) which rose 4.71% to 56.860, Leoni AG (DE: LEOGn ) which was up 3.90% to settle at 52.480 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE: HLE ) which gained 1.68% to close at 45.27.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE: NAFG ) which was down 6.04% to 69.750 in late trade, Hannover Rueck SE (DE: HNRGn ) which lost 4.86% to settle at 103.75 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE: MTXGn ) which was down 3.42% to 119.95 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE: EVTG ) which rose 8.64% to 14.145, Siltronic AG (DE: WAFGn ) which was up 0.77% to settle at 81.410 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE: ADAG ) which gained 0.58% to close at 6.630.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE: AM3D ) which was down 13.83% to 31.71 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE: MDG1k ) which lost 9.98% to settle at 8.868 and Jenoptik AG (DE: JENG ) which was down 4.49% to 23.400 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 608 to 160 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 20.35% to 18.00 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.83% or 10.56 to $1289.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.67% or 0.33 to hit $49.23 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.15 to trade at $52.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1751, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.9058.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 93.41.
