Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the DAX Technology, DAX Software and DAX Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.14%, while the MDAX index lost 0.11%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 2.58% or 34.00 points to trade at 1,353.50 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 1.74% or 1.04 points to end at 60.68 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) was up 0.89% or 0.29 points to 32.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which fell 5.52% or 12.80 points to trade at 219.00 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) declined 3.45% or 1.20 points to end at 33.43 and SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) down 3.34% or 8.65 points to 250.10.
The top performers on the MDAX were RENK Group AG (ETR:R3NK) which rose 4.05% to 45.70, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was up 4.02% to settle at 8.38 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which gained 3.54% to close at 2.43.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 4.86% to 65.65 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which lost 3.85% to settle at 11.36 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 3.41% to 22.12 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which rose 3.41% to 19.40, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 2.03% to settle at 15.58 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 1.99% to close at 69.05.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 5.52% to 219.00 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 4.86% to settle at 65.65 and IONOS Group SE (ETR:IOSn) which was down 4.31% to 24.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 353 to 251 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Shares in Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) fell to 3-year lows; losing 3.85% or 0.46 to 11.36.
The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.83% to 22.81 a new 6-month high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.10% or 3.01 to $3,051.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.17% or 0.81 to hit $69.81 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.08% or 0.78 to trade at $73.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 104.01.
