Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the DAX Technology, DAX Construction and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.09%, while the MDAX index lost 1.58%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p), which rose 1.08% or 0.96 points to trade at 89.88 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) added 0.62% or 0.10 points to end at 16.33 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was up 0.45% or 0.18 points to 38.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which fell 3.52% or 8.60 points to trade at 235.90 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) declined 3.48% or 1.07 points to end at 29.72 and Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) down 2.61% or 1.02 points to 38.05.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which rose 5.70% to 37.25, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which was up 2.15% to settle at 24.76 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (ETR:FPE3_p) which gained 1.44% to close at 42.28.
The worst performers were Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) which was down 6.88% to 222.00 in late trade, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which lost 5.78% to settle at 35.36 and SCHOTT Pharma AG & Co KgaA (ETR:1SXP) which was down 5.64% to 30.12 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 0.91% to 16.56, PNE Wind AG (ETR:PNEGn) which was up 0.67% to settle at 12.04 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which gained 0.45% to close at 38.99.
The worst performers were SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 7.10% to 56.30 in late trade, Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which lost 6.35% to settle at 54.60 and Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which was down 4.77% to 40.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 473 to 148 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Shares in Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.35% or 3.70 to 54.60.
The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.80% to 17.36.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.55% or 15.20 to $2,796.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.96% or 1.32 to hit $68.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.88% or 1.33 to trade at $72.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.52% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 103.94.
