’Fasten your seatbelts’— BTIG strategists warn of coming turbulence
Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the DAX Telecom, DAX Construction and DAX Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.71%, while the MDAX index lost 1.33%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn), which rose 1.67% or 0.26 points to trade at 15.53 at the close. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 1.63% or 28.00 points to end at 1,748.00 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) was up 1.59% or 0.55 points to 35.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn), which fell 3.75% or 1.21 points to trade at 31.07 in late trade. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) declined 3.18% or 0.94 points to end at 28.65 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) down 3.17% or 0.93 points to 28.41.
The top performers on the MDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 2.15% to 7.60, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 1.62% to settle at 94.30 and GEA Group AG (ETR:G1AG) which gained 1.28% to close at 59.25.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (ETR:TUI1n) which was down 9.04% to 6.56 in late trade, Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which lost 5.78% to settle at 90.40 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which was down 4.12% to 71.00 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 2.15% to 7.60, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 1.62% to settle at 94.30 and Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which gained 0.39% to close at 78.00.
The worst performers were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 5.12% to 23.36 in late trade, Formycon AG (ETR:FYB) which lost 4.73% to settle at 28.20 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was down 3.75% to 31.07 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 436 to 174 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Shares in RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.59% or 0.55 to 35.23. Shares in Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.78% or 5.55 to 90.40.
The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.59% to 19.02.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.93% or 64.60 to $3,408.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $68.13 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.21 to trade at $69.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.75% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.66% at 97.96.
