Germany shares lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.39%

Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the DAX Construction, DAX Technology and DAX Chemicals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.39% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index fell 0.19%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.96%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which rose 3.30% or 11.70 points to trade at 366.10 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) added 2.85% or 0.78 points to end at 28.19 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 2.05% or 0.60 points to 29.85 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which fell 2.49% or 0.96 points to trade at 37.65 in late trade. Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) declined 2.35% or 1.40 points to end at 58.20 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) down 2.26% or 0.97 points to 42.04.

The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which rose 6.37% to 45.76, LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which was up 3.09% to settle at 75.05 and Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which gained 3.06% to close at 90.80.

The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 3.87% to 9.57 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (ETR:HLE) which lost 3.02% to settle at 83.60 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 2.93% to 16.87 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which rose 1.71% to 77.50, Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was up 1.43% to settle at 24.04 and 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which gained 1.09% to close at 18.62.

The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 3.87% to 9.57 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 2.93% to settle at 16.87 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 2.14% to 6.85 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 396 to 222 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Shares in MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) rose to all time highs; up 3.30% or 11.70 to 366.10. Shares in Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (ETR:HLE) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.02% or 2.60 to 83.60. Shares in 11 AG (ETR:1U1) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.09% or 0.20 to 18.62.

The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.14% to 23.32.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.11% or 3.80 to $3,410.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.36% or 1.00 to hit $72.27 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 1.00 to trade at $75.45 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 98.09.
