Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the DAX Construction, DAX Consumer & Cyclical and DAX Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.38%, while the MDAX index lost 1.19%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 3.31% or 7.80 points to trade at 243.30 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) added 1.56% or 0.44 points to end at 28.58 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was up 1.46% or 0.64 points to 44.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG), which fell 2.15% or 2.70 points to trade at 123.15 in late trade. Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) declined 2.05% or 5.00 points to end at 238.80 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) down 1.70% or 0.47 points to 27.13.
The top performers on the MDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which rose 2.93% to 11.61, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was up 1.73% to settle at 30.66 and Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) which gained 1.63% to close at 56.00.
The worst performers were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which was down 9.46% to 112.90 in late trade, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which lost 7.18% to settle at 13.89 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 4.33% to 8.06 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 3.31% to 243.30, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 2.93% to settle at 11.61 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 1.73% to close at 30.66.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 7.18% to 13.89 in late trade, Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which lost 7.15% to settle at 17.66 and Formycon AG (ETR:FYB) which was down 4.63% to 59.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 371 to 247 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Shares in Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.46% or 0.64 to 44.74.
The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.98% to 16.37.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.28% or 34.66 to $2,680.34 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.26% or 1.71 to hit $77.46 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 1.48 to trade at $81.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.25% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 109.74.
