Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the DAX Construction, DAX Chemicals and DAX Media sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.34%, while the MDAX index declined 1.17%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which rose 3.65% or 1.14 points to trade at 32.35 at the close. Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) added 3.63% or 6.30 points to end at 179.65 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was up 3.48% or 2.12 points to 62.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which fell 4.53% or 65.50 points to trade at 1,380.00 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) declined 3.66% or 0.91 points to end at 23.93 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) down 2.29% or 5.60 points to 239.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tui AG NA (ETR:TUI1n) which rose 4.61% to 7.40, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 2.35% to settle at 69.60 and Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which gained 2.15% to close at 133.30.
The worst performers were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 9.31% to 71.15 in late trade, Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which lost 6.18% to settle at 33.40 and Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) which was down 4.65% to 166.20 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 2.35% to 69.60, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which was up 1.21% to settle at 28.34 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 1.19% to close at 40.82.
The worst performers were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 9.31% to 71.15 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which lost 2.29% to settle at 239.20 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 2.09% to 12.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 322 to 292 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Shares in Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) rose to all time highs; up 3.63% or 6.30 to 179.65. Shares in Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.65% or 8.10 to 166.20.
The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.83% to 22.81 a new 6-month high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.03% or 0.91 to $3,041.71 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.93% or 0.62 to hit $67.37 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.63 to trade at $71.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 103.42.
