Germany shares higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.65%

Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the DAX Industrial, DAX Retail and DAX Software sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.65%, while the MDAX index gained 2.49%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.73%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 6.29% or 81.00 points to trade at 1,369.00 at the close. Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) added 4.21% or 6.84 points to end at 169.16 and Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) was up 3.75% or 6.25 points to 172.85 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p), which fell 1.44% or 0.78 points to trade at 53.50 in late trade. Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) declined 0.44% or 0.16 points to end at 36.08 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) down 0.34% or 0.32 points to 94.00.

The top performers on the MDAX were AUTO1 Group SE (ETR:AG1G) which rose 7.80% to 22.38, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 7.11% to settle at 72.30 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 6.74% to close at 64.10.

The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 1.73% to 23.86 in late trade, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which lost 0.71% to settle at 8.65 and Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) which was down 0.52% to 57.90 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 7.11% to 72.30, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which was up 6.91% to settle at 27.24 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 6.74% to close at 64.10.

The worst performers were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which was down 0.44% to 36.08 in late trade, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which lost 0.33% to settle at 33.70 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 0.08% to 239.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 460 to 172 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Shares in Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) rose to all time highs; rising 6.29% or 81.00 to 1,369.00. Shares in Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) fell to all time lows; losing 1.44% or 0.78 to 53.50. Shares in Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.75% or 6.25 to 172.85. Shares in Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) fell to 52-week lows; falling 0.34% or 0.32 to 94.00.

The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.83% to 22.81 a new 6-month high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.28% or 8.40 to $2,999.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.08% or 0.72 to hit $67.27 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.04% or 0.73 to trade at $70.61 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.42% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 103.70.
