Germany shares higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.35%
Credit: © Reuters. – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources , Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.35%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.99%, and the TecDAX index added 1.30%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE: FREG ), which rose 3.10% or 2.120 points to trade at 70.410 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (DE: LING ) added 2.54% or 4.15 points to end at 167.65 and Bayer AG NA (DE: BAYGN ) was up 2.35% or 2.50 points to 108.90 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE: CBKG ), which lost 0.19% or 0.020 points to trade at 10.745 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE: DBKGn ) declined 0.15% or 0.020 points to end at 13.740 and Vonovia SE (DE: VNAn ) gained 0.28% or 0.10 points to 35.41.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE: NAFG ) which rose 3.81% to 73.790, Duerr AG (DE: DUEG ) which was up 2.57% to settle at 98.570 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE: SHA_p ) which gained 2.51% to close at 11.64.

The worst performers were Aareal Bank AG (DE: ARLG ) which was down 0.25% to 34.540 in late trade, Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE: TLXGn ) which lost 0.21% to settle at 35.580 and Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE: AOXG ) which was down 0.12% to 12.420 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE: AIXGn ) which rose 5.41% to 7.447, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE: DRWG_p ) which was up 3.50% to settle at 89.950 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE: MDG1k ) which gained 3.27% to close at 9.370.

The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE: AM3D ) which was down 0.62% to 30.22 in late trade, S&T AG (F: SANT1 ) which lost 0.47% to settle at 16.870 and GFT Technologies AG (DE: GFTG ) which was up 0.09% to 16.270 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 569 to 189 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.70% to 15.61.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.30% or 3.88 to $1292.82 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.65% or 0.31 to hit $47.84 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.25 to trade at $51.91 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1766, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.9168.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 93.36.
