Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.95%, while the MDAX index added 0.79%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.93% or 0.420 points to trade at 14.770 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 2.66% or 0.540 points to end at 20.825 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was up 1.96% or 3.150 points to 163.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 2.42% or 0.290 points to trade at 11.700 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 0.88% or 0.30 points to end at 33.87 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) shed 0.47% or 0.700 points to 149.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which rose 4.90% to 86.870, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was up 4.34% to settle at 24.140 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which gained 4.29% to close at 46.605.
The worst performers were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 1.46% to 31.950 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 0.94% to settle at 74.480 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 0.64% to 41.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 5.38% to 194.950, Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which was up 2.80% to settle at 102.150 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which gained 2.25% to close at 6.087.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 7.12% to 28.960 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which lost 1.46% to settle at 39.200 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 0.96% to 42.10 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 616 to 236 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.37% to 18.76.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.54% or 7.05 to $1317.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.74% or 0.76 to hit $44.38 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.77% or 0.81 to trade at $46.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8563.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 95.73.
