Germany shares higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.31%

Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology , Retail and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.31%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.60%, and the TecDAX index added 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE: TKAG ), which rose 2.60% or 0.670 points to trade at 26.410 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE: FMEG ) added 1.57% or 1.420 points to end at 92.100 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE: HNKG_p ) was up 1.54% or 1.70 points to 111.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE: DBKGn ), which lost 0.95% or 0.150 points to trade at 15.650 in late trade. Siemens AG Class N (DE: SIEGn ) declined 0.82% or 1.00 points to end at 121.06 and E.ON SE NA (DE: EONGn ) shed 0.51% or 0.044 points to 8.618.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE: SNHG ) which rose 4.12% to 0.50, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE: WCHG ) which was up 3.33% to settle at 174.00 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE: SDFGn ) which gained 1.89% to close at 23.230.
The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE: JUNG_p ) which was down 1.33% to 40.180 in late trade, Innogy SE (DE: IGY ) which lost 1.00% to settle at 31.670 and Hannover Rueck SE (DE: HNRGn ) which was down 0.45% to 109.90 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE: S92G ) which rose 6.97% to 41.760, Medigene NA O.N. (DE: MDG1k ) which was up 5.93% to settle at 17.150 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE: EVTG ) which gained 5.93% to close at 15.800.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE: NEKG ) which was down 2.14% to 79.900 in late trade, Wirecard AG (DE: WDIG ) which lost 1.71% to settle at 97.460 and GFT Technologies AG (DE: GFTG ) which was down 0.91% to 13.130 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 468 to 241 and 102 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.20% to 13.83.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.76% or 10.30 to $1352.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.96% or 0.63 to hit $66.14 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $70.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.2424, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8758.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 88.84.
