Germany shares higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.20%

Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the DAX Food & Beverage, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and DAX Telecom sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.20% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.33%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.75%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which rose 4.38% or 1.11 points to trade at 26.43 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) added 3.48% or 0.94 points to end at 27.95 and Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) was up 3.12% or 5.45 points to 180.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG), which fell 2.82% or 4.80 points to trade at 165.44 in late trade. Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) declined 1.60% or 1.70 points to end at 104.85 and E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) down 1.19% or 0.19 points to 15.35.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 4.85% to 105.90, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 3.78% to settle at 128.90 and RENK Group AG (ETR:R3NK) which gained 3.49% to close at 83.83.

The worst performers were Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) which was down 4.72% to 52.50 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which lost 3.23% to settle at 9.76 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which was down 2.71% to 7.11 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 4.85% to 105.90, Formycon AG (ETR:FYB) which was up 4.58% to settle at 27.40 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which gained 3.78% to close at 128.90.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 2.10% to 6.99 in late trade, Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which lost 1.03% to settle at 23.02 and PNE Wind AG (ETR:PNEGn) which was down 0.76% to 15.58 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 307 to 299 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Shares in Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.48% or 0.94 to 27.95. Shares in Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) rose to all time highs; rising 4.85% or 4.90 to 105.90. Shares in Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.78% or 4.70 to 128.90. Shares in Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) rose to all time highs; rising 4.85% or 4.90 to 105.90. Shares in Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) rose to all time highs; up 3.78% or 4.70 to 128.90.

The DAX New Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.34% to 19.78.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.92% or 31.25 to $3,367.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.89% or 0.56 to hit $63.41 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.54 to trade at $65.40 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 98.74.
