Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the CAC Consumer Service, CAC Technology Hardware & Equipment and CAC Personal Goods sectors led shares higher while losses in the CAC Financials, CAC Utilities and CAC Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.97%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN), which rose 4.76% or 10.75 points to trade at 236.60 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) added 3.27% or 1.32 points to end at 41.72 and Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) was up 2.44% or 2.36 points to 99.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orange SA (EPA:ORAN), which fell 2.67% or 0.26 points to trade at 9.54 in late trade. Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) declined 2.44% or 0.80 points to end at 31.97 and Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) down 1.72% or 0.25 points to 14.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) which rose 4.76% to 236.60, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was up 4.68% to settle at 118.50 and Rexel (EPA:RXL) which gained 4.22% to close at 27.44.
The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 20.60% to 0.77 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which lost 3.95% to settle at 182.20 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) which was down 2.67% to 9.54 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 262 to 240 and 100 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.05% or 24.40 to $2,351.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.58% or 0.45 to hit $78.35 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.47 to trade at $82.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.00% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.23% at 103.90.
