Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the CAC Media, CAC Household Goods and CAC General Retailers sectors led shares higher while losses in the CAC Technology, CAC Oil & Gas and CAC Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.86%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV), which rose 3.20% or 0.32 points to trade at 10.32 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 2.27% or 1.06 points to end at 47.75 and Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) was up 2.27% or 2.40 points to 108.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP), which fell 1.09% or 1.09 points to trade at 99.06 in late trade. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) declined 0.69% or 0.24 points to end at 34.63 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) down 0.52% or 0.15 points to 28.62.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 10.87% to 0.73, Technip Energies BV (EPA:TE) which was up 6.03% to settle at 22.52 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which gained 5.17% to close at 16.77.
The worst performers were Mersen (EPA:CBLP) which was down 2.63% to 33.30 in late trade, Lectra SA (EPA:LECS) which lost 1.68% to settle at 29.20 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which was down 1.45% to 32.04 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 254 to 217 and 108 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.77% or 18.30 to $2,386.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.29% or 1.05 to hit $82.46 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.82 to trade at $85.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.37% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 104.72.
