Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Oil & Gas Producers and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.56%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which rose 2.14% or 0.475 points to trade at 22.670 at the close. Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) added 1.95% or 1.22 points to end at 63.64 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 1.30% or 1.55 points to 121.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA), which lost 11.23% or 0.741 points to trade at 5.859 in late trade. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) declined 5.34% or 1.07 points to end at 18.96 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) shed 2.73% or 1.06 points to 37.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which rose 10.32% to 371.00, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 7.68% to settle at 4.36 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which gained 3.22% to close at 7.629.
The worst performers were GTT (PA:GTT) which was down 23.56% to 26.35 in late trade, Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) which lost 11.23% to settle at 5.859 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) which was down 5.34% to 18.96 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 358 to 337 and 84 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.23% to 26.58.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.93% or 10.40 to $1126.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 6.10% or 2.05 to hit $31.57 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.92% or 1.77 to trade at $34.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.59% to 1.0897, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.7578.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 99.10.
