Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Healthcare and Electronic Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.49% to hit a new 6-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vinci SA (PA:SGEF), which rose 2.16% or 1.23 points to trade at 58.09 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 1.18% or 0.99 points to end at 84.76 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) was up 1.04% or 0.83 points to 80.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN), which lost 3.05% or 1.29 points to trade at 41.23 in late trade. Essilor International Compagnie Generale d`Optique SA (PA:ESSI) declined 2.34% or 2.60 points to end at 108.35 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) shed 1.91% or 0.95 points to 48.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which rose 8.54% to 13.850, Thales (PA:TCFP) which was up 3.65% to settle at 71.78 and STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which gained 2.69% to close at 5.730.
The worst performers were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 7.40% to 56.030 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 6.59% to settle at 6.59 and Adocia (PA:ADOC) which was down 5.58% to 63.260 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 451 to 283 and 48 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.15% to 29.71.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.06% or 0.70 to $1098.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 5.43% or 1.80 to hit $31.36 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 5.92% or 2.01 to trade at $31.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.0896, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.7485.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 98.65.
