France shares lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.33%

Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the CAC Financials, CAC Utilities and CAC Consumer Service sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.33% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.35%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which rose 1.17% or 0.17 points to trade at 14.76 at the close. Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) added 0.69% or 0.30 points to end at 43.70 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was up 0.34% or 0.20 points to 59.54 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which fell 5.02% or 1.21 points to trade at 22.87 in late trade. Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) declined 4.10% or 3.22 points to end at 75.30 and Credit Agricole SA (EPA:CAGR) down 3.90% or 0.55 points to 13.57.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 3.51% to 3.77, Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which was up 3.12% to settle at 84.30 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which gained 2.29% to close at 189.70.

The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 15.11% to 0.97 in late trade, Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which lost 7.20% to settle at 3.07 and Television Francaise 1 SA (EPA:TFFP) which was down 6.95% to 8.10 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 401 to 126 and 81 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

Shares in Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) fell to all time lows; down 15.11% or 0.17 to 0.97.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.06% or 1.30 to $2,328.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.49% or 0.38 to hit $78.12 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.48 to trade at $82.11 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 104.96.
