Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the CAC Technology, CAC Basic Materials and CAC Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.22%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP), which rose 1.56% or 2.40 points to trade at 156.55 at the close. Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 1.49% or 2.05 points to end at 139.45 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) was up 0.60% or 0.65 points to 108.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which fell 6.20% or 1.56 points to trade at 23.55 in late trade. Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) declined 5.59% or 0.14 points to end at 2.45 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) down 3.02% or 7.50 points to 240.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 9.57% to 2.00, Vusiongroup SA (EPA:VU) which was up 2.27% to settle at 153.10 and Dassault Aviation SA (EPA:AM) which gained 1.80% to close at 192.60.
The worst performers were Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was down 6.75% to 82.25 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which lost 6.20% to settle at 23.55 and Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 6.03% to 2.68 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 338 to 159 and 95 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
Shares in Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) fell to all time lows; falling 6.03% or 0.17 to 2.68.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.69% or 44.74 to $2,608.56 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.70% or 1.20 to hit $69.38 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.82% or 0.60 to trade at $72.79 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.45% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 108.11.
