France shares lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.95%

Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology , Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.95%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.93%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA: PUBP ), which rose 1.18% or 0.62 points to trade at 53.14 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA: MICP ) added 1.17% or 1.20 points to end at 103.80 and L’Oreal SA (PA: OREP ) was up 0.40% or 0.80 points to 201.40 in late trade.

Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (PA: STM ), which lost 4.91% or 0.785 points to trade at 15.195 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) declined 3.85% or 1.035 points to end at 25.815 and Dassault Systemes (PA: DAST ) shed 3.64% or 4.65 points to 123.00.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eutelsat Communications SA (PA: ETL ) which rose 6.93% to 22.83, Neopost (PA: NPOS ) which was up 2.88% to settle at 26.42 and Television Francaise 1 SA (PA: TFFP ) which gained 2.51% to close at 9.200.

The worst performers were Trigano (PA: TRIA ) which was down 6.59% to 86.50 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (PA: STM ) which lost 4.91% to settle at 15.195 and Eurofins Scientific (PA: EUFI ) which was down 4.68% to 443.80 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 404 to 176 and 84 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.37% to 15.62.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 3.20 to $1204.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.39% or 0.29 to hit $74.62 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.09 to trade at $84.67 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1511, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.8790.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 95.38.
