Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the CAC Consumer Goods, CAC Consumer Service and CAC Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.32%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN), which rose 4.74% or 10.75 points to trade at 237.45 at the close. Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) added 3.58% or 3.38 points to end at 97.84 and Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) was up 1.85% or 0.05 points to 2.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kering SA (EPA:PRTP), which fell 5.40% or 14.05 points to trade at 246.25 in late trade. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) declined 4.98% or 37.40 points to end at 713.20 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) down 3.06% or 11.25 points to 356.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) which rose 4.74% to 237.45, Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) which was up 3.58% to settle at 97.84 and Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which gained 2.57% to close at 83.80.
The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 7.46% to 1.81 in late trade, Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which lost 7.35% to settle at 55.45 and Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was down 7.17% to 2.07 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 282 to 207 and 94 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
Shares in Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) fell to all time lows; down 7.46% or 0.15 to 1.81.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.06% or 1.75 to $2,796.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.66% or 0.49 to hit $73.28 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.31 to trade at $76.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 107.75.
