France shares higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.88%

Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the CAC Health Care, CAC Basic Materials and CAC Consumer Service sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.88% to hit a new 6-month high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.91%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI), which rose 5.64% or 2.79 points to trade at 52.22 at the close. Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) added 3.94% or 9.70 points to end at 255.95 and Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) was up 2.05% or 0.05 points to 2.69 in late trade.

Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which fell 10.68% or 2.54 points to trade at 21.24 in late trade. Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) declined 0.18% or 0.30 points to end at 166.32 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) down 0.05% or 0.01 points to 10.40.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mersen (EPA:CBLP) which rose 16.10% to 22.50, Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which was up 7.87% to settle at 1.06 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which gained 5.96% to close at 8.11.

The worst performers were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which was down 10.68% to 21.24 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which lost 2.10% to settle at 11.20 and ID Logistics SAS (EPA:IDLA) which was down 1.97% to 398.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 310 to 184 and 94 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.64% or 45.94 to $2,839.44 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.26% or 0.19 to hit $72.81 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.30 to trade at $75.91 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 107.74.
