Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the CAC Industrials, CAC Oil & Gas and CAC Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.59%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (EPA:SAF), which rose 4.99% or 11.90 points to trade at 250.50 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) added 2.27% or 5.05 points to end at 227.80 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) was up 2.08% or 0.79 points to 38.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN), which fell 4.83% or 1.63 points to trade at 32.14 in late trade. Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) declined 3.22% or 3.20 points to end at 96.14 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) down 1.75% or 6.25 points to 350.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which rose 14.42% to 4.22, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was unchanged 10.81% to settle at 0.00 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) which gained 4.99% to close at 250.50.
The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 9.45% to 6.80 in late trade, Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which lost 5.01% to settle at 47.06 and Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) which was down 4.83% to 32.14 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 269 to 214 and 88 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
Shares in AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.08% or 0.79 to 38.82. Shares in Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.01% or 2.48 to 47.06.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.84% or 24.65 to $2,945.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.26% or 1.50 to hit $67.75 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.98% or 1.38 to trade at $70.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 103.46.
