IT stock jumps 4% after securing multi-million-dollar digital banking deal in Africa
Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the CAC Technology, CAC Basic Materials and CAC Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.53%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 11.13% or 2.50 points to trade at 24.92 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) added 3.36% or 3.02 points to end at 92.88 and Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) was up 3.33% or 2.86 points to 88.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which fell 2.52% or 0.34 points to trade at 12.94 in late trade. Thales (EPA:TCFP) declined 1.58% or 4.30 points to end at 267.80 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) down 1.46% or 0.48 points to 32.39.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which rose 11.13% to 24.92, Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was up 5.99% to settle at 10.39 and Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which gained 5.91% to close at 9.50.
The worst performers were Carmila SA (EPA:CARM) which was down 7.09% to 17.30 in late trade, Eurazeo (EPA:EURA) which lost 4.13% to settle at 60.40 and Nexity (EPA:NEXI) which was down 4.10% to 9.48 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 247 to 236 and 91 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.63% or 21.20 to $3,398.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.04% or 0.66 to hit $62.75 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.34% or 0.88 to trade at $64.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 98.71.
