Trump slaps 30% tariffs on EU, Mexico
Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the CAC Basic Materials, CAC Consumer Goods and CAC Consumer Service sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.27%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 5.27% or 1.01 points to trade at 20.24 at the close. Renault SA (EPA:RENA) added 4.38% or 1.97 points to end at 46.92 and Bureau Veritas SA (EPA:BVI) was up 3.76% or 1.02 points to 28.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST), which fell 5.11% or 1.73 points to trade at 32.13 in late trade. Thales (EPA:TCFP) declined 3.79% or 9.50 points to end at 241.30 and BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) down 2.15% or 1.59 points to 72.23.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were X Fab Silicon Foundries EV (EPA:XFAB) which rose 13.20% to 4.78, ID Logistics SAS (EPA:IDLA) which was up 5.48% to settle at 385.00 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which gained 5.27% to close at 20.24.
The worst performers were Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which was down 11.43% to 5.05 in late trade, BIC (EPA:BICP) which lost 5.26% to settle at 54.00 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) which was down 5.11% to 32.13 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 268 to 197 and 96 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
Shares in Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) fell to all time lows; falling 11.43% or 0.65 to 5.05. Shares in BIC (EPA:BICP) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.26% or 3.00 to 54.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.48% or 48.91 to $3,343.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $62.26 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.08 to trade at $66.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 99.27.
