Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the CAC Financials, CAC Industrials and CAC Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.21% to hit a new 6-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which rose 2.72% or 1.00 points to trade at 38.00 at the close. Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 2.33% or 4.15 points to end at 182.45 and Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) was up 2.23% or 2.40 points to 110.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP), which fell 10.22% or 18.95 points to trade at 166.50 in late trade. Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) declined 4.68% or 1.58 points to end at 32.19 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) down 2.05% or 5.75 points to 274.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which unchanged 17.24% to 0.00, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was up 6.14% to settle at 3.60 and Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which gained 5.99% to close at 1.52.
The worst performers were Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) which was down 10.22% to 166.50 in late trade, Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) which lost 4.68% to settle at 32.19 and Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) which was down 3.87% to 176.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 251 to 238 and 93 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
Shares in Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.72% or 1.00 to 38.00. Shares in Thales (EPA:TCFP) rose to all time highs; rising 2.33% or 4.15 to 182.45. Shares in Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) rose to all time highs; up 2.23% or 2.40 to 110.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.69% or 48.94 to $2,949.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.47% or 1.04 to hit $71.75 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.56 to trade at $75.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 106.90.
