Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as in the sectors propelled shares .
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite unchanged 0.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Aurora Cannabis Inc (TO:ACB), which rose 12.70% or 1.380 points to trade at 12.250 at the close. Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED) added 6.08% or 3.870 points to end at 67.550 and Stars Group Inc (TO:TSGI) was up 4.47% or 1.42 points to 33.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included New Gold Inc (TO:NGD), which lost 9.03% or 0.130 points to trade at 1.310 in late trade. Eldorado Gold Corp (TO:ELD) declined 6.50% or 0.08 points to end at 1.15 and Lucara Diamond Corp (TO:LUC) shed 4.66% or 0.110 points to 2.250.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 544 to 527 and 136 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.38% to 12.87.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 3.80 to $1212.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.93% or 0.66 to hit $70.11 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.03% or 0.82 to trade at $78.58 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.17% to 0.7743, while CAD/EUR fell 0.75% to 0.6579.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.69% at 93.47.
