Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the S&P/TSX Renewable Energy and Clean Technology Index, S&P/TSX Capped Utilities Index and S&P/TSX Capped Health Care Index sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.50% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR), which rose 14.87% or 1.17 points to trade at 9.04 at the close. Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML) added 11.57% or 0.31 points to end at 2.99 and NexGen Energy Ltd. (TSX:NXE) was up 10.28% or 1.03 points to 11.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K92 Mining Inc (TSX:KNT), which fell 5.40% or 0.51 points to trade at 8.94 in late trade. Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS) declined 4.68% or 3.94 points to end at 80.31 and Aritzia Inc (TSX:ATZ) down 4.07% or 1.86 points to 43.79.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 571 to 366 and 111 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 11.97% to 10.15 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 10.85 to $2,689.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $70.60 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.19 to trade at $74.44 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.45% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 103.36.
