Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.49%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Clean Technology , Materials and IT sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.49%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX: TXG ), which rose 4.88% or 0.840 points to trade at 18.050 at the close. Bombardier Inc (TSX: BBDb ) added 4.46% or 0.070 points to end at 1.640 and Linamar Corporation (TSX: LNR ) was up 4.41% or 1.62 points to 38.36 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Secure Energy Services Inc . (TSX: SES ), which lost 8.70% or 0.42 points to trade at 4.41 in late trade. Cronos Group Inc (TSX: CRON ) declined 3.07% or 0.3800 points to end at 12.0000 and Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX: ACB ) shed 2.83% or 0.17 points to 5.84.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 670 to 364 and 122 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 9.44% to 13.05.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.23% or 3.55 to $1510.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.01% or 0.53 to hit $52.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 0.79 to trade at $58.50 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.17% to 0.7510, while CAD/EUR rose 0.08% to 0.6841.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 98.510.
