Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.45%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare , IT and REITs sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.45% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TO: IVN ), which rose 8.82% or 0.350 points to trade at 4.320 at the close. Sierra Wireless Inc . (TO: SW ) added 6.31% or 1.69 points to end at 28.46 and Computer Modelling Group Ltd. (TO: CMG ) was up 5.68% or 0.52 points to 9.68 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Precision Drilling Corporation (TO: PD ), which lost 6.44% or 0.25 points to trade at 3.63 in late trade. Ensign Energy Services Inc (TO: ESI ) declined 4.54% or 0.32 points to end at 6.73 and MEG Energy Corp (TO: MEG ) shed 4.01% or 0.22 points to 5.27.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 679 to 415 and 130 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 3.82% to 11.15.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.78% or 10.00 to $1274.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.17% or 1.12 to hit $50.55 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 0.74 to trade at $56.05 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.26% to 0.7993, while CAD/EUR rose 0.32% to 0.6810.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 93.46.
