Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 3.25%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 3.25%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ), which rose 13.57% or 1.44 points to trade at 12.05 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) added 11.12% or 2.83 points to end at 28.28 and Vale SA (SA: VALE5 ) was up 8.21% or 1.89 points to 24.90 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Banco Bradesco SA Pref (SA: BBDC4 ), which lost 8.92% or 2.84 points to trade at 29.01 in late trade. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA: CMIG4 ) declined 8.84% or 0.80 points to end at 8.25 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA: KROT3 ) shed 8.67% or 1.310 points to 13.800.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 251 to 160 and 21 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 18.78% to 40.66 a new 3-month high.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.33% or 16.95 to $1256.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.52% or 0.69 to hit $44.58 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 4.37% or 7.43 to trade at $162.50 .

USD/BRL was up 5.29% to 3.3873, while EUR/BRL rose 5.10% to 3.6895.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.81.
