Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 2.62%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Industrials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 2.62%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ), which rose 0.58% or 0.08 points to trade at 13.92 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ) added 0.32% or 0.10 points to end at 31.60 and JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) was up 0.08% or 0.01 points to 11.95 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA: PETR3 ), which lost 5.50% or 0.94 points to trade at 16.14 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA: GOAU4 ) declined 5.22% or 0.30 points to end at 5.45 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ) shed 5.21% or 0.63 points to 11.47.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 300 to 99 and 23 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.59% to 31.55.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.56% or 6.65 to $1197.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.96% or 0.51 to hit $52.66 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.91% or 1.39 to trade at $150.88 .

USD/BRL was down 0.46% to 3.1264, while EUR/BRL fell 0.43% to 3.3451.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 100.39.
