Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.44%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate , Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.44%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ), which rose 5.43% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.27 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ) added 4.20% or 0.32 points to end at 7.94 and WEG SA (SA: WEGE3 ) was up 3.48% or 0.60 points to 17.85 in late trade.

Biggest losers included CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA: CMIG4 ), which lost 5.02% or 0.47 points to trade at 8.90 in late trade. Smiles ON (SA: SMLE3 ) declined 3.41% or 2.31 points to end at 65.50 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA: CSAN3 ) shed 3.16% or 1.17 points to 35.83.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 174 to 171 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.42% to 31.50.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.22% or 2.81 to $1270.01 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.56% or 0.28 to hit $49.28 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.47% or 1.95 to trade at $130.32 .

USD/BRL was up 0.81% to 3.1728, while EUR/BRL rose 0.58% to 3.4599.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 98.84.
