Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.30%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate , Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.30%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Vale SA (SA: VALE5 ), which rose 6.52% or 1.25 points to trade at 20.42 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ) added 5.92% or 0.72 points to end at 12.89 and Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ) was up 5.17% or 1.05 points to 21.35 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Hypermarcas SA (SA: HYPE3 ), which lost 5.06% or 1.43 points to trade at 26.84 in late trade. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA: ESTC3 ) declined 2.98% or 0.57 points to end at 18.53 and Multiplan SA (SA: MULT3 ) shed 2.78% or 1.79 points to 62.66.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 213 to 148 and 29 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.46% to 28.99 a new 52-week low.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.88% or 11.15 to $1274.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.43% or 0.72 to hit $49.80 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 3.93% or 6.20 to trade at $164.02 .

USD/BRL was down 0.29% to 3.1155, while EUR/BRL fell 0.24% to 3.3920.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 98.71.
