Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 3.37%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials , Consumption and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 3.37%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ), which rose 1.28% or 0.24 points to trade at 18.99 at the close. EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA: ENBR3 ) added 0.96% or 0.13 points to end at 13.68 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA: CSAN3 ) was up 0.85% or 0.34 points to 40.30 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Tim Participacoes SA (SA: TIMP3 ), which lost 6.36% or 0.91 points to trade at 13.40 in late trade. BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ) declined 5.82% or 1.36 points to end at 22.00 and B2W Cia Digital (SA: BTOW3 ) shed 6.16% or 1.76 points to 26.82.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 309 to 103 and 29 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 10.25% to 31.83.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1290.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.08% or 0.06 to hit $71.55 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.59% or 0.69 to trade at $117.97 .

USD/BRL was up 0.42% to 3.6898, while EUR/BRL rose 0.33% to 4.3518.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.40.
