Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.50%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials , Consumption and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.50%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ), which rose 5.42% or 0.72 points to trade at 14.00 at the close. Gerdau SA Pref (SA: GGBR4 ) added 3.12% or 0.52 points to end at 17.20 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ) was up 2.92% or 1.24 points to 43.67 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Viavarejo Unt (SA: VVAR11 ), which lost 6.90% or 1.61 points to trade at 21.74 in late trade. Kroton Educacional SA (SA: KROT3 ) declined 5.60% or 0.62 points to end at 10.46 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA: RAIL3 ) shed 4.28% or 0.65 points to 14.55.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 232 to 154 and 36 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.75% to 34.79.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 3.40 to $1221.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.46% or 2.39 to hit $66.78 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.07% or 1.16 to trade at $107.72 .

USD/BRL was up 0.27% to 3.7630, while EUR/BRL rose 0.40% to 4.3693.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.92.
