Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.33%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.33%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Magazine Luiza SA (SA: MGLU3 ), which rose 1.65% or 2.67 points to trade at 164.80 at the close. TAESA UNT N2 (SA: TAEE11 ) added 0.89% or 0.20 points to end at 22.72 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA: RADL3 ) was up 0.85% or 0.54 points to 64.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ), which lost 8.43% or 6.22 points to trade at 67.55 in late trade. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ) declined 4.69% or 1.95 points to end at 39.65 and CCR SA (SA: CCRO3 ) shed 4.65% or 0.60 points to 12.30.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 310 to 148 and 30 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.29% to 33.88.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.33% or 4.10 to $1243.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $52.88 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.65% or 0.70 to trade at $107.10 .

USD/BRL was up 0.27% to 3.8528, while EUR/BRL rose 0.14% to 4.3692.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 96.900.
