Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.20%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials , Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.20%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ), which rose 4.37% or 0.41 points to trade at 9.79 at the close. Embraer SA (SA: EMBR3 ) added 2.51% or 0.52 points to end at 21.25 and Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA: SMLS3 ) was up 2.51% or 1.10 points to 45.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA: MRFG3 ), which lost 3.30% or 0.19 points to trade at 5.57 in late trade. IGUATEMI ON NM (SA: IGTA3 ) declined 3.00% or 1.18 points to end at 38.20 and Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) shed 2.92% or 0.41 points to 13.64.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 307 to 129 and 33 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.24% to 34.41.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.73% or 9.10 to $1250.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.65% or 1.88 to hit $49.59 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.91% or 1.95 to trade at $100.30 .

USD/BRL was down 0.45% to 3.9009, while EUR/BRL fell 0.11% to 4.4257.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 96.588.
