Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.00% – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Public Utilities , Electric Power and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.00%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ), which rose 2.05% or 0.71 points to trade at 35.33 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA: KROT3 ) added 1.54% or 0.23 points to end at 15.20 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ) was up 1.36% or 0.21 points to 15.69 in late trade.

Biggest losers included CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA: CMIG4 ), which lost 4.87% or 0.42 points to trade at 8.20 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) declined 3.53% or 0.50 points to end at 13.65 and JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) shed 3.52% or 0.29 points to 7.95.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 264 to 158 and 40 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 11.45% to 28.91.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.93% or 11.87 to $1291.17 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.18% or 1.08 to hit $48.48 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.80% or 4.00 to trade at $138.77 .

USD/BRL was up 0.68% to 3.1776, while EUR/BRL rose 0.82% to 3.7420.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.28.
