Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.88%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate , Financials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.88%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Magazine Luiza SA (SA: MGLU3 ), which rose 5.62% or 7.76 points to trade at 145.76 at the close. Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA: UGPA3 ) added 2.65% or 1.18 points to end at 45.63 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA: CSAN3 ) was up 2.17% or 0.84 points to 39.61 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Kroton Educacional SA (SA: KROT3 ), which lost 4.88% or 0.57 points to trade at 11.11 in late trade. Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ) declined 4.73% or 1.50 points to end at 30.20 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) shed 4.56% or 0.78 points to 16.32.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 232 to 162 and 26 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.45% to 35.41 a new 1-month high.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1218.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $69.06 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.15% or 0.16 to trade at $108.88 .

USD/BRL was up 0.75% to 3.7624, while EUR/BRL rose 1.08% to 4.3639.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 95.00.
