Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.72%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Electric Power and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ), which rose 4.91% or 0.99 points to trade at 21.15 at the close. Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA: UGPA3 ) added 4.43% or 1.93 points to end at 45.53 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA: GOLL4 ) was up 4.37% or 0.88 points to 21.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (SA: ITUB4 ), which lost 34.20% or 18.03 points to trade at 34.69 in late trade. Gerdau SA Pref (SA: GGBR4 ) declined 4.95% or 0.80 points to end at 15.35 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ) shed 3.82% or 0.36 points to 9.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 258 to 184 and 37 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 7.56% to 36.67.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 5.70 to $1226.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.97% or 1.05 to hit $54.48 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.87% or 1.00 to trade at $113.90 .
USD/BRL was up 1.09% to 3.7982, while EUR/BRL rose 1.25% to 4.3253.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.615.
