Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.39%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumption, Real Estate and Bovespa Industrial Sector sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.39%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura & Co SA (BVMF:NTCO3), which rose 7.10% or 0.71 points to trade at 10.71 at the close. IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) added 6.42% or 2.92 points to end at 48.39 and Porto Seguro SA (BVMF:PSSA3) was up 4.54% or 2.10 points to 48.33 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which fell 16.08% or 0.23 points to trade at 1.20 in late trade. Raia Drogasil SA (BVMF:RADL3) declined 6.30% or 1.02 points to end at 15.18 and Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF:VAMO3) down 6.22% or 0.28 points to 4.22.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 531 to 429 and 51 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.

Shares in Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) fell to all time lows; falling 16.08% or 0.23 to 1.20. Shares in Raia Drogasil SA (BVMF:RADL3) fell to 5-year lows; down 6.30% or 1.02 to 15.18. Shares in Porto Seguro SA (BVMF:PSSA3) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.54% or 2.10 to 48.33.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.07% to 30.16.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.89% or 61.40 to $3,186.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.19% or 0.76 to hit $62.91 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.79% or 10.50 to trade at $365.85 .

USD/BRL was up 0.49% to 5.64, while EUR/BRL rose 0.38% to 6.30.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 100.92.
