Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.25%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.25%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA: BRML3 ), which rose 4.35% or 0.49 points to trade at 11.76 at the close. Lojas Americanas SA (SA: LAME4 ) added 3.67% or 0.65 points to end at 18.35 and IGUATEMI ON NM (SA: IGTA3 ) was up 3.18% or 1.23 points to 39.90 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Gerdau SA Pref (SA: GGBR4 ), which lost 4.63% or 0.74 points to trade at 15.24 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA: GOAU4 ) declined 3.47% or 0.26 points to end at 7.23 and Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) shed 3.04% or 0.72 points to 22.95.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 213 to 202 and 34 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.51% to 31.21.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.56% or 7.40 to $1328.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.38% or 0.90 to hit $64.27 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.04% or 0.05 to trade at $118.97 .

USD/BRL was up 1.07% to 3.3080, while EUR/BRL rose 0.81% to 4.0720.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 89.44.
